20th/21st Century Evening Sale

Marking Christie’s 40th Anniversary in Asia, the September 20th/21st Century Evening Sale presents a landmark selection of masterpieces spanning the global landscape of modern and contemporary art. A particularly strong presentation of Asian artists is led by Chu Teh-Chun’s Autumn, a rare monumental canvas from his celebrated Snow series and the only known example to unite a snow landscape with the radiant colours of autumn, and Zao Wou-Ki’s Untitled (1957), a fresh-to-market work of exceptional historical significance that sheds new light on a lesser-known chapter of the artist’s post-war Paris years. Further highlights include works by Yayoi Kusama, Liu Ye, Christine Ay Tjoe, Wu Dayu, Wu Guanzhong, and Georgette Chen, reflecting the depth and diversity of artistic practices across Asia.

The sale is further distinguished by an exceptional group of Impressionist and Modern masterpieces, headlined by Paul Cézanne’s museum-quality still life, one of the groundbreaking compositions that transformed the still life into a cornerstone of modern painting. Spanning centuries and artistic movements, the sale further features works by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Fernando Botero, Alex Katz and Peter Paul Rubens, highlighting its global scope and historical depth.
