LACMA

Since its inception in 1965, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has been devoted to collecting works of art that span both history and geography, mirroring Los Angeles’s rich cultural heritage and uniquely diverse population. Today LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. Its collections include; Asian art, American and Latin American art, Modern and Contemporary Art, Islamic art (The collection is especially strong in Persian and Turkish glazed pottery and tiles, glass, and arts of the book), Greek, Roman, and Etruscan art, Decorative arts and design, Permanent art installations, Photography and Film. LACMA’s mission is to serve the public through the collection, conservation, exhibition, and interpretation of significant works of art from a broad range of cultures and historical periods, and through the translation of these collections into meaningful educational, aesthetic, intellectual, and cultural experiences for the widest array of audiences.

opening hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 11:00am to 6:00pm Friday: 11:00am to 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday: 10:00am to 7:00pm
