Summer

Statement:

I truly love summer, for it is the season of sunshine, warmth, and the ripening of fruits.This collection itself started in the summer, with limes beginning to ripen. One day, as the smell of fresh-cut limes filled the kitchen, I suddenly realized what an amazing creation the dried lime is (the same fresh lime now dried through a special process).The dried lime is an essential ingredient in making broth and stews. Though it has lost its freshness and aroma, it has gained other things in return: dots, lines, texture, and different shades of darkness and light. For this reason, it is a very suitable model from which to draw.I have studied “Persian miniature”, or “Iranian painting”, in the university and I know that an important part of Iranian painting is “drawing”, meaning a type of painting that does not have much color, whose elements are lines, dots, and textures, often referred to as “etching”.To draw, I use paper and ink and two cat hair paintbrushes, usually sitting at the dining room table to work.
